One of the most emblematic structures of the Florentine Middle Ages.

Over the centuries has been the scene of political events, clashes, bloody executions and violent riots.

Today, a National Museum and treasure chest of sculpture by Donatello, Michelangelo's room, Verrocchio and Giambologna.

The structure is reminiscent of the medieval castles typical of the Tuscan countryside, its courtyard, so evocative, preserves the memory of all Florentine history and in its rooms we can retrace the evolution of sculpture from the 14th century to the late Renaissance.

Our visit begins in the large courtyard where Michelangelo's room opens up, housing sculptures such as: Bacchus, an early work by the great artist, the Tondo Pitti and Brutus, a bust of Caesar's murderer that recalls another famous assassination that took place in the Medici household in 1500.

On the first floor is the room dedicated to the great master of the Florentine Renaissance: DonatelloInside are the great artist's most famous masterpieces such as Saint George, from Orsanmichele, and David, a bronze sculpture that is emblematic not only of Donatello's sculptural talent, but of the entire 15th century Italian period. In the same room are works by other important 15th-century artists such as Andrea del Verrocchio and Lorenzo Ghiberti.
