One of the most evocative stretches of the Via Francigena in Tuscany.
We will cross the Crete Senesi, a landscape outside time and space.
The meeting point is near Piazza del Campo and, after a short city walk, we leave Sienathrough Porta Romana. After just two kilometres, we reach the Certosa di Maggiano, a grandiose monastic complex now converted into a luxury hotel. The route continues in a rural setting, among rolling hills and white roads. We pass through an industrial area, but luckily the stretch is short, because we soon return to admire the fields and crete, always with Siena protecting us from afar. We admire the fortified farmhouse of Grancia di Cuna, now in ruins, and turn off for Monteroni d’Arbiafrom where we take the train back to Siena.
