The day's programme includes the start of the hike along the so-called 'lower ring of La Verna'. We will cross, in a mostly flat stretch - there are very few ascents - an enchanted forest of beech and fir trees. We will encounter iceboxes, natural refrigerators, a breathtaking view of the valley and go around the Sacro Monte de La Verna, an unusual geological phenomenon. Arrival at La Verna, free time for lunch. After lunch we visit the Sanctuary of La Verna. An important place of pilgrimage, here St Francis withdrew in silence and prayer and received his stigmata, it is also an incredible treasure trove of works of art, such as the glazed terracottas from the della Robbia workshop.
